 1.   Draft Principles

The first version of the Exeter Consulting Forum (ECF)principles were agreed.

They are as follows:

“Any consultant, business or other organisation can attend or become involved in the ECF.

No marketing or selling is permitted except on request. Members of the Forum and attendees at meetings can only market or sell goods and services to people and organisations met via the Forum if asked to do so. This is because we wish to create a no pressure environment which encourages open dialogue and cooperation. A plain description of services and goods offered does not constitute marketing or selling.

If requested to provide consultancy services, consultants commit to deliver services as far as is possible, on a performance basis. This is because we believe that businesses, and especially small ones with limited resources, will be reluctant to take on the cost of a consultant if results are uncertain.

Members or attendees of the Forum would be free to contact members of the Forum directly, or via the Forum, as desired.

Changes to the Forum Principles can be made by a majority of the ECF administrators.”

2.   How to Make Consulting Services Attractive to Local Businesses

We will attempt to assemble an initial small team of people with cross-functional skills and to contact a number of organisations to offer our services.

3.   Brief Profiles of People’s Skills and Abilities

Forum participants will be requested to provide a simple one page profile which will detail:

1.     Existing and previous job titles and positions

2.     How they can help to increase an organisation’s revenues (directly or indirectly)

3.     How they can help to reduce an organisation’s costs (directly or indirectly)

4.   Possible Publication of Skill Sets and Profiles

If explicit written permission has been granted by Forum participants their profile will be published on the www.ECF.one website.

5.   Forum Presentations

The Forum will run presentation sessions about how to provide consulting services most effectively and how to add value to organisations.

6.   Business Turnaround Service

A business turnaround service will be one of the offerings by the initial team.

7.   Making Bids for Contracts

The initial team may make bids for work contracts if the chance of a particular level of benefit weighed against the cost of bidding look favourable.

8.   AOB

Forum participants will be requested to provide contact details which will be held in accordance with Data Protection principles in an encrypted format by Forum administrators for Forum related and will not be provided to any other person or organisation without explicit written permission.
